Outdoor Light Poles Information

Light poles bring safety through visibility to your outdoor spaces. Parking lots, walkways, patios, parks and streets are only a few examples of the type of areas that could benefit from outdoor lighting poles. These should be constructed of a durable material and, if possible, a protective finish that will withstand the elements over a long period of time. An equally important consideration is the type of fixtures which can be easily mounted upon the pole. Whether it is intended for domestic or commercial use, most buyers seek outdoor lighting poles that are designed with maximum flexibility in mind.

Residential, Landscape Lighting & Design offers a comprehensive selection of commercial light poles that meet a full range of demands and individual needs. Our Techlight lighting poles are constructed of weldable carbon steel that is suited to most any application or environment. The pole shafts have full length longitudinal resistance welds and are uniformly cylindrical on cross-section, giving them tremendous strength against virtually any force they might encounter. This durability is reinforced by carbon steel anchor bases which telescope the pole shaft, and fastened by commercial-quality anchor bolts—each of which is tested to a minimum yield strength of 55,000 Ksl. Our outdoor lighting poles come in round straight pole or square straight pole shapes, and can be round tapered poles or square tapered poles at the top. Choose between bronze, black, or white finish, or specify galvanized and custom finishes for added protection. Depending on the application and the type of pole you desire, Techlight outdoor lighting poles come in sizes ranging from 10 to 50 feet! Choosing a lighting pole coated in a galvanized paint will ensure a long life, and will never rust.

When you order a lighting pole, be sure to ask about the various types of footings available. Ranging anywhere between 18 and 24” in diameter, our reinforced steel footings are designed for various wind zones. We strongly recommend that you consult with a licensed electrician or an engineer to determine the proper footing for your area. Soil conditions, environmental conditions, and size of poles should be considered.

Once you have decided upon the size, shape, finish and footings of your outdoor lighting poles, the next step is to place a lighting fixture upon it! Here again, there are a number of options to choose from. Before selecting a tenon, which will determine how many lights may by placed upon the pole, one must consider the type of coverage desired. For example, a light pole along a street or sidewalk may not require the same 360 degree luminosity one might desire from a parking lot light pole. Residential, Landscape Lighting & Design offers every option imaginable. We have simple square tenons which allow for a vertical mounting of a single fixture, horizontal channel brackets that allow for 2, 3 or 4 fixtures to be placed at various angles, as well as cross-bar brackets that allow for multiple vertical mounts. These tenons should be combined with our adjustable knuckle filter, which will allow you to point the light in the direction you desire.

Finally, we recommend our line of outdoor commercial lighting fixtures, which can be easily mounted upon the tenons and brackets described above. Choose from 250, 400 or 1000-watt fixtures. These metal halide fixtures are extremely efficient and long-lasting, and are placed within die cast aluminum housing for extra durability. High pressure sodium and mercury vapor fixtures are also available. Standard colors include bronze, black and white. Each lighting pole fixture comes in a variety of voltage options, including 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V, and 480V.

If this is your first time to attempt an outdoor lighting pole project, do not worry! Although the many options available may be overwhelming at first, the basic principles are the same as any other lighting project.
