At the MnM Construction, their Design Research Centre in Kingston, Surrey, Building Designers are busy working on a system to build not one but hundreds of concept buildings all across Europe, varying from residential houses to commercial and office space. These are to meet the efficiency goals of new, everyday EU environmental legislation, as well as to facilitate a complete new living environment for the new century.
A team of environmental designers at MnM is now studying ways to improve quality of life within communities. Their brief is to create an environment where individuals do not feel discriminated or dislocated by the traditional “conveyor belt” type of concept living that has been so prevalent in the past. Traditional mass production practices have failed to pay basic attention to people, especially environmental changes and society greater awareness to better living. Now architects, planners and governments in certain countries are waking up to the consequences of such bad design. Lack of human empathy and thinking, coupled with the gross failure of architects, designers, planners and governments to embrace fundamental human values before embarking upon building living spaces suitable to integrate environment as whole, has resulted the most appalling breeding grounds for alienation within society has been created, which today is costing millions of euros to rectify.
Gladly, things are now changing for the better, with the key people responsible for building environment starting to realise that people of today will no longer accept anything less than greater choice of living. As result, there is now a myriad of building contractors and supplier’s world-wide ready to cash in. Today more than ever, one can choose the style, profile, and concept of house that best suits one’s needs, without having to endure the imposing of retrograde, outmoded, period living that does not comply with basic needs of today’s society. Helping to meet the first mission
In order to achieve this, MnM has teamed up with a panel of developers, architects, environmental experts, social psychologists, modern anthropologists, designers and engineers. A first prototype will be ready for public viewing this year, with an initial scheme for the first houses being drafted for exhibition and sale shortly after.
