Action Storage is offering free installation of all cycle shelters and selected storage lockers ordered before 31st March, when applications for the capital grant have to be submitted.

Since 2003 the government's capital grant system has awarded schools additional funds to reduce cars on the road and to encourage pupils to cycle. Primary schools are entitled to £3750 + £5 per pupil, whilst secondary schools can receive £5000 + £5 per pupil towards improving their sustainable travel facilities.

To be eligible for the capital grant schools need to implement a school travel plan (STP) outlining the steps they need to take to encourage sustainable travel whilst also ensuring the safety of pupils. The government has set itself the target of every school having an STP by 2010.
