July 17, 2005 -- Climate controlled wine rooms are not just for mansions any more. Tricon Residential Construction and Design, an inside the loop builder, will be adding climate controlled wine rooms to a select group of their homes starting this summer. The climate controlled wine rooms were designed and will be built for Tricon by Vineyard Wine Cellars.

“Tricon is the only builder that we know of at this price point in Houston that is offering climate controlled wine rooms,” says Jost Lunstroth of Vineyard Wine Cellars. “In fact, they could be the only such builder in all of Texas.” Vineyard Wine Cellars designs and builds custom wine rooms in Houston, Austin and San Antonio.
“Our buyers are discriminating and appreciate quality amenities in their homes. Therefore, we feel that they will truly enjoy having a wine room in their home,” says Tristan Berlanga of Tricon. “We worked with Jost to get a design that meets our high standards and is budget conscious. Our goal was a wine room that was attractive and functional yet priced so our homes are price competitive. We also worked closely with Jost to make sure that the wine room is built correct technically.”
A report prepared by the Wine Market Council in 2004 shows that of the 203 million adults in the U.S., 26.4% are wine drinkers. "We are building custom designed wine areas in homes that range from a few hundred thousand dollars to into the millions of dollars,” said Lunstroth. “We see everything from the person who buys a few cases a year to the serious collector with thousands of bottles.”
