Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. Begins Demolition of Former Rubber Plant To Make Way for Residential, Retail Project

July 1, 2005 -- Dallas Contracting Co., Inc., has begun demolition of a site in Butler that functioned as a former rubber plant before it burned down in the 1950s.

The site to be demolished includes former buildings from an old rubber plant (Pequanoc Rubber Co.) that burned down in the 1950’s as well as former operations from the PQ Corporation. The site is approximately 6.5 acres and includes various industrial buildings including several outside tank farms and a power/boiler house. Demolition is the first step in the redevelopment of this Brownfield property, which will be turned, into a $14 million residential and retail project.

Dallas Contracting Co., Inc.’s scope of demolition work includes decontamination of buildings and tanks, demolition of all structures including all slabs, foundations and footings, salvage of some process equipment, removal of several underground storage tanks, onsite concrete aggregate crushing of the C&D materials and backfilling with crushed materials.

Work is scheduled to be completed in several months.
