Bamco Architects Offer Client UW Sheboygan Improved Processes, with Taylor Technologies Services and Autodesk Revit

(PRWEB) November 17, 2005 -- Bamco Architects began investigating ways to enhance their utilization of the latest advancements in design software in August of 2004. Their goal was not only to improve internal methods, but to also provide their customers with an exceptional level of communication and interaction during the design process.

“  From a technical standpoint we could see the advantages and value of Revit, but the question was how the client, from their perspective, could perceive the value of this technolog...
Bob Jagemann, CEO of Bamco Architects and Dan Bayer, project manager, contemplated the decision to make a change in their design software or stay with their current tool. Their search lead them to AutodeskŪ RevitŪ Building (link: http://taylor-tech.com/revit) as best way to achieve their dual objectives. They were in a position to use Revit with a high-profile contract that would be their largest and most prestigious to date--the sophisticated new Acuity Technology Center addition for UW Sheboygan.

Like most projects, many of the decision-makers involved did not have experience reading traditional, two-dimensional, highly-technical drawings. Bamco’s personnel assured their clients that they would provide an interactive design process; including web-based access to design development, frequent 3D walkthroughs, and high quality renderings as the design evolved. These factors were later given as key reasons they were selected as the architectural firm for the project.

With little time to waste, Bamco and Taylor placed a high priority on getting the new software installed and implemented. Randy Froehling, one of Taylor's Architectural Industry Specialists, worked closely with Dan Bayer and John Raiten to develop an aggressive implementation and training schedule at Bamco's facilities.

Week 1: Intensive, on-site software training for design team.
Week 2: Allow Bamco personnel to work with software on their own.
Week 3: Workshop on advanced design techniques utilizing Revit features, during which the ATC project was incorporated in to the exercises.

Being a Sheboygan County building, the project required Bamco's design team to interface with individuals from the client (UW System), the owner (Sheboygan County), and Acuity, the key donor who provided a large grant to fund the project. Throughout the design process, John was pleased to be able to exceed the customer's expectations by meeting with the different groups of individuals frequently, showing them 3D walkthroughs and renderings, making changes on the fly "in plan" and reflecting those changes back to them not only immediately, but in a medium that was visually powerful and easy to understand.

Due to the Revit 3D capabilities, design conflicts were uncovered, allowing them to make some easy design changes to resolve those challenges right away. Dan stated, “If these issues hadn’t been caught early on, they would have required some major re-design work, resulting in additional fees for re-engineering and increased building construction costs adding up to nearly twenty-thousand dollars.”

Bamco executives recognized the added benefits Revit now allows them to offer their clients. "From a technical standpoint we could see the advantages and value of Revit, but the question was how the client, from their perspective, could perceive the value of this technology. We asked ourselves how the investment and change we were making could create clear value for our clients. If we had to tell the client we were making changes and it wasn't apparent to them, there was no value. All of this is not about technology; it's about developing and providing exceptional value to our clients," concludes Bamco’s CEO Bob Jagermann.
