Angola's Block Hotel Receives Face-lift by Marinaro ArchitectsMay 6, 2005 -- The Block Hotel, in Angola, NY, selected Marinaro Architects & Associates to redesign the entire restaurant. The design includes a new display/show kitchen, and a dining room addition.
Established in 1905, the Block Hotel was built by Charles and Mary Rogendorf who used a new building block technique that produced a rectangular and square block from stone and concrete. The first of its kind, the Block Hotel was a way station for people traveling by horse and buggy between Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA. At the time the hotel offered 13 sleeping rooms, a dining room, a bar, and stable services for horses. Currently, the Block Hotel hosts a banquet hall and restaurant known for its steak and seafood dishes, and basket food meals.
Marinaro Architects & Associates, located in Clarence, NY, are currently involved in projects with a construction value of approximately $40 million. The firm specializes in the design of college/university structures, multi-family housing, corporate buildings, senior living communities, municipal buildings, adaptive re-use, and master planning.
Their work in the region demonstrates their affinity for and commitment to Buffalo and Western New York.
